If you’re a kielbasa sausage fan, chances are you’ve had it with pasta, mash potatoes, or even breakfast; but have you tried it on stir-fry?
I will be using snow peas, carrots and bell peppers for this recipe. Feel free to use your favorite vegetables, paying attention to varying cooking times.
If this is the first time you make a stir-fry, here are my tips for crisp, delicious vegetables and authentic stir-fry.
Kielbasa sausage stir-fry
Ingredients
- 1 link Kielbasa sausage
- 3 cups snow peas
- 1 unit medium to large carrot
- 2 units yellow or red bell peppers
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
Preparation:
-
Wash the vegetables.
-
Prepare the snowpeas for cooking by cutting from the tip of each pea and pulling out the tough string that runs alongside it. This step is a bit time-consuming, but necessary.
-
Peel and thinly slice carrot (approx. 1/16th of an inch thick)
-
Julienne the peppers into bite-sized pieces. Remove and discard the seeds.
-
Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
-
Cut the sausage into bite-sized pieces (about 1 to 1 1/2 inch thick).
Cooking:
-
Place 1 tablespoon of oil on a wok or large frying pan. Allow to heat on medium to high. Oil should heat up promptly.
-
Add the garlic and stir for a couple of seconds. Then add the sausage. Do not allow garlic to burn.
-
Cook the sausage for approximately 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Once the sausage browns slightly, set aside.
-
Add the remaining oil to the frying pan. Add the vegetables and stir. Add the water and cover while fire is on medium high. Wait three minutes.
-
Uncover the vegetables and stir. Add salt and soy sauce. At this point, you may taste a piece of pepper and add more salt if needed.
-
Add the sausage to the vegetables and stirfry for another minute.
-
Serve with white rice or quinoa.
-
Enjoy!
